Apnea and Hypopnea

Sleep disordered breathing is characterized by snoring and the cessation of breathing during sleep.

 

  • Hypopnea a person experiences a partial decrease in airflow for 10 seconds or more.
  • Sleep apnea a person’s airflow stops completely for 10 seconds or more.
  • When a snorer is sleepy during the day, an evaluation by a sleep specialist may be needed.


Treatments exist to successfully manage this disorder.
